This article brought to you by HomeGoods as part of their holiday blogger challenge. Content and opinions are my own.![baking supplies]()
I make no secret of the fact that I am a straight-up Homegoods junkie. Of course, I adore their sister stores (T.J. Maxx & Marshalls) as well, but it is Homegoods that fully brings out "kid in the candy store" in me. Most of my trips net at least a few kitchen gadgets, supplies or dishes. The store is an excellent source of quality in season goods at discount prices. Here are a few things I recently picked up for holiday baking. The mitt even came with a bag of chocolate cupcake mix inside, making it a great gift at just $3.99.

I was quite taken with a lot of the lovely dinnerware Homegoods has in stock right now, but as my kitchen is in a bit of construction upheaval I've vowed not to buy anything other than the occasion prop for food photos. The silver & gold dishes were taunting me with their enticing sparkle, but I held strong. They will grace another's table.
Stylescope Quiz Helps Define Style
Since the kitchen is sort of off limits at the moment, I focused on getting a few new decorations for our holiday tree & sprucing up the style in my bedroom. Homegoods has a fun and useful tool on their site called
StyleScope. Of course, I had to give this quiz a whirl, before heading out to shop. Here are my results.

The results aren't any surprise to me, though I must say, the "and a touch" influence fluctuates based on architecture & use of room. Living in a Victorian Era home has probably helped the Classic style maintain it's foothold with me. The two rooms featured here today are my bedroom and double parlor. The parlor shows the Boho flair with spicy orange walls & some ethnic pieces, whereas the bedroom is in more soothing tones.
![silver & gold holiday tree]()
The Stylescope holiday decorating suggestions for Classic style included selecting decorations in monochromatic ivory tones. This appealed to me especially since the color of my parlor walls sort of clashes with the traditional Christmas color palette. I actually revamped my tree decor a couple years ago, to a silver & gold palette. I guess that would equate to the Classic/Boho version of the tip.
![classic ornaments]()
I picked up a box of gold crackle glass balls, as well as, a set of woodland themed blown glass ornaments in silver. Between the new ornament additions and a few more strings of lights this year, my grapevine star looks a bit lost. I'll be keeping my eye out for a perfect replacement.
Stylescope Bedroom Spruce Up
I did some major improvements to my bedroom about 2 1/2 years ago, but after the painting, reflooring, DIY furniture projects and a comforter set. I dropped the ball & my oasis from the hectic pace of life did not fully evolve. I came across some items at my local Homegoods that re-spurred my interest. The colors are perfect for the room & fit within the Classic style, while the medallion fabric & photo frame gems harken to Boho, but in a very subdued manner.
![bedroom selections]()
I love the prices, considering the quality of the items. For example, the Waterford Linens comforter was just $59.99, these luxurious & well made comforters typically sell for about $300. Great for stylistas on a budget. I didn't purchase either of the chests yet, but if the one in the inset circle is still there when I go back this week I will. The handles on it are similar to my dresser & the diamond pattern is something I've repeated several times in the room (due to it's prevalence in the pressed tin ceiling).

Here is my newly revamped sleeping area. The pillow in the shot was also a Homegoods purchase, but from a few years ago.
![jeweled photo frame]()
I love how the picture frame adds a little bling, but remains subtle enough not to clash with the overall style of the room. A frame like this would make a wonderful holiday gift too.
Check out the Stylescope quiz for yourself. It is quick & easy, just pick 5 images that appeal to you out of the selections, click & the tool will generate your results. Everyone I know who has tried it so far found it to be pretty accurate.
